Item Description:

GaraDry Garadam Garage Door Flood Barrier Threshold Kit 2 in., 9.8 Fl. Oz. - Black

The ‘Garadam’ is our largest garage door seal, it stands at 2 inches tall and stops water like no other. It was created specifically to act as a garage door flood barrier to stop high levels of water. Because a 2-inch defense against flooding is what some areas will desperately need during storm season.

This garage door flood barrier is 2 inches tall and 9 inches wide with a lot of differing lengths from 8’3” up to 16’3”. Please keep in mind that you may need two people to carry this particular product especially with the longer lengths, as due to its size it can get quite heavy.

What Type Of Garage Doors Can This Garage Dam Be Used On

Our ‘Garadam’ product though large can be used on all types of domestic and commercial doors and applications. However, any roller shutter, side-hinged, sectional, and up-and-over door will be able to fit this threshold seal. If you find that this garage door flood barrier is a little tall for your gap then you can also check out our smaller seals like for example the 1¼" garage door seal.

What Material Is This Garage Door Flood Barrier Made Of

This and our smaller range of seals are all made from the exact same PVC material which is not only fully recyclable but extremely durable and can handle almost all domestic vehicles (see chart here) passing over it.

The best part about our products and specifically this garage door flood barrier is that as opposed to cheaper rubber alternatives the material doesn’t become unusable after heavy exposure to rain or sunlight. It will not become brittle or crack due to adverse weather conditions and is therefore an easy purchase to protect yourself from floods.

How Is My Garage Protected By This Garage Door Flood Barrier

The way that the ‘Garadam’ protects your garage is by acting as a garage dam, stopping water in it's tracks. This is achieved by sticking the threshold seal down with our specially prepared adhesive which creates a watertight seal. This in turn protects the garage from any moisture build up, stopping condensation and slowing down rusting.

Because of the size of the product standing at an impressive height, it comes with some additional benefits. First of all, it will stop any and all debris that might be blown in, you will not have to worry about leaves, dust or anything of the like. Additionally, because the seal created is placed between the garage door and floor, it will stop any critters and vermin from burrowing their way inside the garage. Your garage will always be kept clean and dry.

This Kit Includes

  • ‘Garadam’ 2-inch garage door flood barrier of chosen size
  • Adhesive with enough tubes to cover the installation of the seal
  • Color instructions with a QR code to this video
  • 2 foam side blocks

Please Note

Should you be installing this 2” garage door flood barrier further back behind the door frame or tracks you may need these additional side blocks to prevent water building up and spilling over the sides of this large seal.

How to Measure Your Garage Door Before Installation

The one thing that is of paramount importance before you choose to buy any of the products you see on our site is measurements. It is best to be thorough to ensure you get the right size first time. Below we will talk about how to measure your garage door to select the best garage door threshold for your garage door.

How to Choose the Correct Threshold Seal Height

All you need to do to pick the correct height of the seal is to measure the largest gap between the garage door and floor. This is best done by measuring the gap in several places as it may vary across the width of the garage door, and you may have a garage that has a ½” gap on one side and a 1-inch gap on the other. Which would indicate that a 1” would be what you need at minimum.

When you have found the largest gap, you can then pick out the ideal seal for you. Because the seals range from ¼” all the way to 2” of height you have a lot of choice when it comes to sealing the gap. In addition to the height of any gap underneath your garage door, you would also need to consider the volume of water that you require protection from as the height of the threshold will protect against that level of standing water. So if you suffer from a lot of heavy torrential rain one of the larger seals is probably going to be more suitable for your needs.

If you do decide to purchase a larger threshold seal, then you can easily fit a taller threshold but just keep in mind that you should set it back slightly away from the door. This will allow the garage door to close without any modifications.

How to Choose the Correct Length for Your Garage

The other thing that is important to measure before purchasing is the length of threshold seal you will need. The way to do this is quite simple, all you will need to do is measure the width of the garage door from left to right. This will help inform you on which of the lengths you will need to select.

Because we have so many different lengths you can choose from, you can be sure that you will find the exact length you need. You will need the seal to be slightly longer than the width of the door (around 1 ½” each side) to notch it around the door frame or garage door tracks. You can cut it down with a hacksaw, sharp knife, or scissors depending on the material used.
